An Open Letter
Fellow Citizens, Neighbors, Friends:
We’re on the verge of something big here in the City of Norwich. We’ve been making progress over the last ten years. It’s been slow at times, but we’ve been moving forward. Now it’s time for us to solidify our gains and take the next great leap into the future — toward a new political environment, a new economy and a brighter future for all of us.
We’ve been hit hard by the recent economic downturn, but we’re strong, well-positioned and committed to the success of this amazing community. We’ve done our homework and we’re ready to start thinking beyond the comfortable boxes that have defined our policies in the past.
In good times and bad, communication is the most tool to ensure that the interests of the people are fully and accurately reflected in public policy. I want to know what you think about the issues impacting our community and I want to let you know how I plan to help make Norwich the best city it can be! This website is just the begining of a new approach to local government in Norwich — an approach that puts people before programs, taxpayers before tax expenditures.
The next Mayor and City Council are going to face some difficult challenges. As we more forward, we’re going to have to develop smart policies that recognize the strengths of our community and the needs of our residents and citizens. Over the last five years, I’ve shown I’m not willing to pretend that everything is just great; I’m committed to identifying the real challenges we face and addressing those challenges head on.
We can succeed, but we’re going to have to work together and put aside the petty differences that have too often defined local politics. We are one community, with one goal — to secure the success, happiness and wellbeing of the people who live here in The Rose of New England.
Let’s change our corner of the world. Let’s make Norwich better. Let’s start today!
