Why Vote for Z

Why should you vote for Bob Zarnetske to be the next Mayor of Norwich?

Experience. Bob’s an experienced leader.  Bob worked here in Norwich as the Assistant City Manager and then as City Manager.  He has also worked as a top manager at the United States Department of Transportation and as a Legislative Aide to two United States Senators.  Bob knows how government works — here in Norwich, in Connecticut and in Washington.  He’s respected by leaders throughout our community, throughout the state and around the country because he knows how to get things done.

Vision. Bob sees huge potential for our city, our region and our state. Unlike other politicians, he’s not satisfied with idea that “things change slowly.”  Bob knows things change as quickly as you can imagine they can.  Excuses block our view of the future and Bob knocks down excuses.

Commitment. Bob doesn’t walk away from a challenge.  He sticks with a problem until it’s been solved.  Bob doesn’t ignore difficulties or sweep issues under the carpet.

Hope for a better Norwich.  Bob’s tough, but fair.  He’s not afraid to call out problems, but he’s also ready, willing and able to work with people to solve those problems.  Bob works across party lines, across economic divides and respects all opinions — even those he disagrees with.

Innovation. Bob’s an innovator who doesn’t just do things the way they’ve always been done.  If there’s a new approach that may help make things work better, Bob’s not afraid to try it.

Change. Bob’s from Connecticut, but he’s traveled all over world and has picked up ideas everywhere he’s gone.  He knows that there’s no one right way to do everything, but there are techniques and strategies that have worked well in other places that can and should be adapted to work here.  Think about it — Norwich’s most prosperous days were when merchant ships brought cargo and ideas from around the world, when change happened quickly and we learned from others.  It’s time for us to learn to change again.

Leadership. Bob doesn’t just go with the flow or go along to get along.  He leads the way. He often says and does what others in government don’t have the courage to say or do.  Bob is respected across the state and beyond for his creativity, his work ethic and his commitment to promoting excellent public service.
